Women support groups / for women and children

Nyemo seeks to facilitate the creation of Women Support Groups for women and children in precarious situations, based on the concept of a work commune which provides for self-help. Women Support Groups accommodate not only socio-professional reintegration but provide an environment in which women may share their experiences, ambitions, dreams and concerns so as to encourage the resurrection of their dignity, self-esteem and hope.
These groups are also associated with the activities of Nyemo project (health education, literacy, women's and children's rights).
These groups also provide nutritional, financial and material support to women and children living with HIV and AIDS of the group.
These groups represent to soon-to-be orphan of Aids the only way-out of the orphanage and also the insurance of the support of the foster mother inside the Women support Groups.

Income generating
Nyemo supports financially some women living with HIV and AIDS who ask for help to set up their support Group. These women graduated from Vocational Training at Nyemo are thus empowered to manage their own resources. The financial provisions supplied by Nyemo include the purchase of materials together with the financing of start-up infrastructure and capital costs such as rent and equipment.
Orphan supporting
In collaboration with its health and education NGO partner network, Nyemo provides and guarantees the access to health and schooling for its beneficiary children.
Nyemo's social workers regularly follow up on the children placed in support Groups, monitoring their health, school enrolment and their general well-being.
Prevention activities
In order to achieve the best results, Nyemo facilitates a range of activities including psychological counseling supported from the Pagoda and education sessions on hygiene, health and nutrition. Such services are facilitated in conjunction with the assistance of other NGOs allowing women living with HIV/AIDS to actively participate in both the evolution of the individually tailored concepts and their establishment.
Voluntary services of former beneficiaries
For most of its activities, The Group will be supported by ex-beneficiaries volunteers of Nyemo project who have succeeded their socio-economic reintegration. Those volunteers will intervene in many ways and in different levels. In the group, they provide advises and supports. They go and see and support ill people in the hospital by bringing food and clean clothes. They look after and take care children of the hospitalized women.
Impact
Nyemo aims to prevent child abandonment through the provision of the aforementioned supporting women and children groups.
Lessons and learnings
Nyemo's experiences in the field of community mobilization is a strong framework upon which it provides a stimulating education program. Such experiences have enabled Nyemo to develop significant local resources which underpin its activities and allow Nyemo to set about and indeed achieve its objectives. Some of its most rewarding results are:

- progress of Cambodian volunteers
- close collaboration with organization working PLWHA
- Formal links with other services and with institutions that provide ongoing attention.

The establishment of such resources is essential for all projects similar by both objectives and demographic. In the face of the Cambodia's socioeconomic situation. Nyemo has also discovered the limits of local resource mobilization necessitating the procurement of external financing in order to set up and develop the income generating activities of the Women Support Groups.
